The Jntu University Hyderabad was established on October 2, 1972, by an act of the State Legislature. Its constituent colleges at the time of its founding were the Government Engineering Colleges in Anantapur, Kakinada, and Hyderabad, as well as the Government College of Fine Arts and Architecture in Hyderabad.
