So Chae-won (26, Hyundai Mobis) and Joo Jae-hoon (31, Korea Hydro Nuclear Power) have reached the final of the compound archery competition as they look to win their first gold medal at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

So Chae-won and Joo Jae-hoon defeated Chinese Taipei's Chun Yi-hsuan and Zhang Chung-wei 158-153 in the fourth round of the compound archery competition on Thursday at the Fuyang Throat Sports Center Archery Range in Hangzhou, China.

After securing silver, So Chae-won and Joo Jae-hoon will face India for gold in the final.

The compound mixed event was first introduced at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, where Korea won the silver medal with Kim Jong-ho and So Chae-won.

If So Chae-won and Joo Jae-hoon win in Hangzhou, they will not only win the first archery gold of the Games, but also the first compound gold of the Asian Games.

So Chae-won and Joo Jae-hoon made it to the quarterfinals without much trouble. They defeated Mongolia 155-145 in the round of 16, their first match of the tournament, and then beat Vietnam 158-153 in the quarterfinals.

The momentum carried over to the quarterfinal match against Chinese Taipei. So Chae-won and Joo Jae-hoon scored nine consecutive 10s before the first shot of the third end. Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei had scored 85 points through nine shots and were within five points of Korea.

Taking the lead, the Taeguk archers kept their composure and shot the remaining seven shots. They made no mistakes and racked up 9-10 points to win. In the final four ends, they scored 40 points to end Taiwan's hopes of an upset. 스포츠토토맨
