"Even a silver medal is precious," said So Chae-won (Hyundai Mobis) after winning her first medal in archery at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

So Chae-won and Joo Jae-hoon (Korea Hydro Nuclear Power) won the silver medal in the compound mixed archery event after losing 158-159 to Jyoti Shekhar Bennam and Yasu Praveen Deotale (India) in the final on Thursday at the Fuyang Throat Sports Center Archery Range in Hangzhou, China.

It was the second consecutive silver medal for So, who also won silver in the mixed event five years ago in Jakarta-Palembang when she partnered with Kim Jong-ho.

"I'm a little disappointed, but it's still a good result. I think a silver medal is valuable and precious," she said.

"Mixed team events are often very close," she said, "and I tried to focus as much as possible and not make any mistakes, but I think I was a little bit worse than Joo Jae-hoon, so I'm sorry for that."

Compound events have yet to be included in the Olympic program. However, there is a possibility that it will be included in Los Angeles 2028, so athletes in this discipline can still dream about the Olympics.

"I've heard that compound could be an official sport at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles," So said, "so I'll be looking far ahead and preparing until then." 스포츠토토링크
