Jang Jang-ran, 40, a former gold medalist in weightlifting at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, has declared an estimated 700 million won in assets.

According to the property register of high-ranking officials published in the official gazette on Oct. 27 by the Government Ethics Commission, Jang declared 693.45 million won in assets including land, buildings and deposits.

Jang disclosed that he owned land in his name, including Imya in Hwaseong-gun, Gangwon-do (50 million won) and Jeondap in Pyeongchang-gun (92.75 million won). He also listed a lease for an apartment in Chaein-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do (280 million won) and a shopping center in Wonju-si, Gangwon-do (184 million won), totaling 464 million won.

Jang also declared a Granger hybrid vehicle (32.99 million won), deposit assets (163.37 million won), and financial obligations worth 111.66 million won.

Jang is a South Korean weightlifting legend who won four consecutive world championships. On the Olympic stage, she won silver in Athens in 2004, gold in Beijing in 2008, and bronze in London in 2012. She also became the first South Korean woman to complete a Grand Slam in weightlifting, winning three titles in 10 consecutive years at the National Games.

After retiring from active duty in 2013, Jang has been a professor of physical education at Yongin University since 2016, where she has worked to train younger athletes. At the end of June, he was appointed Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in charge of policy promotion and sports and tourism.

This is the third time a former national athlete has been appointed as a vice minister of culture, following Park Jong-gil and Choi Yoon-hee. 슬롯
