The LA Lakers became the inaugural champion of the National Basketball Association (NBA) ‘In-Season Tournament’.

The Lakers won the championship trophy with a 123-109 win over Indiana on the 10th in the final of the 2023-2024 NBA in-season tournament. In-season tournaments were created this season. All 30 clubs in the two major NBA leagues are divided into 6 groups of 5 teams each and play in the group stage, and then the 1st place team from each group and the two wild card teams advance to the quarterfinals to determine the winning team in a tournament. In soccer, it is like a cup competition. All games except the final were held as regular league games. This is because the physical problems of players were taken into consideration due to the regular league schedule, which involves 82 games per team per season.

The Lakers rose to the top of the in-season tournament invitational by winning all 7 games, including 4 in the group stage. In the finals, center Anthony Davis led the team to victory with 41 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks. Lakers' star LeBron James was selected as the inaugural MVP of the in-season tournament. James averaged 26.4 points, 8 rebounds, and 7.6 assists in 7 games in this tournament, including 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists in the final game. Speaking about winning MVP, James said, “A lot of records are broken later. “But one thing that never breaks is being the first to do something,” he said. “We are the first champions. “No one can break this record.” He also gave credit to Davis, saying, “Davis dominated the big game.” Davis averaged 23.3 points, 14.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 7 games in this tournament.

As prize money for this tournament, the winning team Lakers received $500,000 (approximately 660 million won) per player, and the runner-up team Indiana received $200,000 per player.  19가이드03
