On October 2, 1972, a State Legislature Act created the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. When it was established, the Government Engineering Colleges in Anantapur, Kakinada, and Hyderabad, as well as the Government College of Fine Arts and Architecture in Hyderabad, became its constituent colleges.
