The South Korean women's football team, coached by Colleen Bell, defeated Hong Kong 5-0 in their third Group E match at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, on Monday.

The South Korean women's soccer team, looking to win its first ever Asian Games gold medal, wrapped up its group stage at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games with three wins. They will face North Korea in the quarterfinals.

South Korea, which has scored 13 goals and lost one against Myanmar, the Philippines and Hong Kong, will face North Korea in the quarterfinals at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 30.

South Korea is heavily favored against North Korea, with a record of 1 win, 3 draws and 15 losses.


The only win came in 2005, a 1-0 victory in the East Asian Confederation Cup in Jeonju. They have not won since, with two draws and 10 losses.


South Korea was able to pull off the victory despite rotating a number of players, including Jung Seol-bin (Incheon Hyundai Steel), Moon Eun-joo (Hwacheon KSPO), Moon Mi-ra (Suwon FC), and Park Eun-sun (Seoul City Hall) in the attacking lineup.


Korea opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Moon Eun-joo headed in a cross from Moon Mi-ra, and she completed her hat trick with a right-footed shot in the 45th minute.


In the first minute of the second half, Moon Eun-joo converted a cross from Lee Eun-young (Korea University) to make it 3-0, before Korea made 토토 it 4-0 six minutes later when they capitalized on an own goal, and again in the 25th minute, Moon Eun-joo converted a pass from Cheon Gar-ram (Hwacheon KSPO) to seal the five-goal victory.
