The Member status, MIMMM, comes with the recognition of an individual’s professional knowledge, experience and understanding in a technical discipline that is related to the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

The Member status, MIMMM, comes with the recognition of an individual’s professional knowledge, experience and understanding in a technical discipline that is related to the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

The institute expects the holders of the MIMMM title to exercise independent judgement in both practical experience and the application of environmental, engineering or scientific principles. They will be innovative in technical matters that are related to materials and natural resources in one or more of the following items:

  • extraction,
  • exploration,
  • forming,
  • processing,
  • selection,
  • application,
  • research,
  • development
  • reuse,
  • manufacturing,
  • research,
  • recycling and
  • repurposing

What are the benefits of this grade?

Aside from the general benefits coming with other grades, a Member can:

  • Use the post-nominal letters ‘MIMMM’.
  • Enjoy free entry to the institute’s Introduction to Professional Registration workshop.
  • Apply for Interim Professional Registration if willing to be qualified in due course to apply for recognition as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with the Engineering Council.
  • Have free entry to its Professional Registration Workshops.
  • Have a mentor to support their application for professional registration.
  • Get free entry to its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshop.
  • Apply for recognition with Qualified for Minerals Reporting (QMR) accreditation under the terms of the CRIRSCO templated Codes of Reporting and be added to the registered of IOM3, from which practitioner credential due diligence checks can be done by the public.
  • Have free entry to its Fellowship workshop.
  • Apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Professionally Qualified Person (PQP) card for which they have to pass the relevant CITB Health and Safety and Environment Test or an approved alternative.

How to apply for the MIMMM grade?

You have to submit the below-listed documents:

  • Your resume/CV copy
  • A copy of your degree/qualification(s) certificate(s) unless you have previously submitted these documents to IOM3.

Professional registration:

If you want to apply for professional registration as a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Chartered Scientist (CSci) or Chartered Engineer (CEng), it’s a must for you to have the grade of MIMMM or FIMMM (Fellow) when you apply.
